Senator Lincoln Hough Applauds Passage of Fiscally Conservative State Budget

Jefferson City — State Sen. Lincoln Hough, R-Springfield, proudly announced the successful passage of the fiscal year 2025 budget, calling it a testament to the Senate's commitment to fiscal responsibility and collaborative governance.

"Despite having to start later than usual, the Senate was able to craft a conservative, balanced budget that reflects our state’s values and ensures our tax dollars are spent responsibly," said Sen. Hough, who serves as the Senate Appropriations Committee Chair. "I’m very proud of the work we have done to meet the needs of our citizens and our state."

Throughout the budgetary process, Sen. Hough actively engaged with people from all corners of the state, from industry leaders and grassroots organizations to community representatives and other legislators. These meetings provided valuable insights that guided the Senate on its budgetary decisions that address the critical needs of Missourians.

“The Senate budget passed today encompasses a comprehensive approach to addressing key priorities for our state,” said Sen. Hough. “It protects life, defends our men and women in law enforcement, invests in our state’s workforce, takes care of our senior citizens and provides a record amount of funding for students and teachers.”

Senator Hough also extended his appreciation to the governor for his leadership throughout this process.

“The Senate was happy to follow the governor’s vision of securing the southern border, supporting first responders, rebuilding our infrastructure and training future workforces. These priorities have remained our primary focus through these negotiations, and will make a lasting impact for decades to come.”

Senator Hough said careful consideration was given to the diverse needs of all constituents, with every dollar allocated reflecting the General Assembly’s commitment to enhancing the well-being and prosperity of the state’s various communities.
