Sealing the Deal on the Budget

The end of session is upon us. At this time of session, it becomes an absolute priority the budget is completed. Otherwise, it can cost taxpayers substantially for us to come back for an extraordinary session that would need to be called by the governor. 

Luckily, the Senate passed the budget just before our deadline. One of my priorities when the Senate works on the budget is to make sure we are fiscally responsible and do not budget more than we can afford like, what seems to me, to be a regular habit in Washington. This has allowed us to actually do the opposite and accrue a surplus in our budget, all while funding our government. I believe it is so important that the funds we receive through state taxes are used appropriately and wisely. I will always make sure every dollar is spent for the benefit of Missouri and we keep as much money as possible in the pockets of Missourians.
