Senator Tony Luetkemeyer’s “Max’s Law” Heads to Governor’s Desk JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Tony Luetkemeyer’s, R-Parkville, Senate Bill 754 passed the Missouri House of Representatives Friday and went to the governor for his consideration. This public safety bill creates multiple laws to ensure the safety and protection of Missourians throughout the state. Sen. Luetkemeyer’s underlying bill, known as “Max’s Law,” protects law enforcement K9s by increasing the penalties for injuring or killing these animals. “I am happy to see this priority legislation make it across the finish line,” Luetkemeyer said. “This bill protects our diligent K9 officers and the public they help protect.” The bill bans celebratory gun fire through “Blair’s Law,” establishes a cyber-crimes task force, removes parole for juveniles convicted of second-degree murder and creates new penalties for fleeing arrest from law enforcement officers. The bill now moves to the governor’s desk. For more information about Sen. Luetkemeyer, visit senate.mo.gov/Luetkemeyer. ### |
