Building our Community

Hello from your favorite senator, Angela Mosley! My work as your senator since session ended has been spent working with our community to strengthen and nourish it.

I love working and meeting with everyone, and am glad to have attended multiple community events in the last few weeks, including the “100 Committee” Bellefontaine Habilitation Center Centennial Celebration, which celebrated the dedication and contributions of the staff, retirees and Parents’ Association, marking 100 years of outstanding service and commitment to the community. I was also pleased at the turnout when I attended the “When Black Women Lead” town hall and this year’s Memorial Day celebrations at the Missouri Veterans Home, honoring the brave men and women who have served our nation - it was awe inspiring to see.

I’m also happy to announce three more community events I will be sponsoring for the community. The first of which is the 2nd Annual “Stop the Gun Violence” Basketball Game 2024. The BGP Hellcats will play off against the Guys in Blue on June 17, 2024. It will be held at McCluer North High School at 1:30 p.m. This is a fun and important event for our community and I look forward to seeing so many friends and family there to root on our teams.

The second is a Gun Violence Prevention Town Hall with Tyrone Dennis, CEO and founder of Clippers and Cops, as a guest speaker. I hope to discuss how we can prevent the gun violence that is plaguing our communities and provide resources to those in need. It will be held on June 20, 2024 at Westside Baptist Church on 2677 Dunn Road, St. Louis, MO 63136. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The last event is the 14th Annual Community Resource Fair & Backpack Giveaway being held on July 20, 2024. This annual event provides a multitude of resources to community members from free haircuts for youth to workforce development resources, utility assistance, Medicare and Medicaid information, Voter Registration and, of course, free backpacks until we run out – so get there early. I will continue to provide for the needs of my community and this event is so important to me because of that. It will be at the Gymnasium at 1 James J. Eagan Dr. in Florissant and the doors will open at 10:30 a.m.

I look forward to seeing you at one or all of these events. In the meantime, please don’t be afraid to reach out. My office has committed to responding to all inquiries within 48 hours.
