Statement from Sen. Lincoln Hough Regarding Missouri’s 2025 Budget

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Lincoln Hough, R-Springfield, today issued a statement relating to the signing of the fiscal year 2025 budget by the governor on Friday, June 28:

“Today marks the culmination of nearly a year of efforts to make sure the citizens of Missouri will have a properly funded government in the year to come and a plan to make our state better for future generations. A budget made up of tens of billions of dollars requires months of work by the governor, the multitude of offices and agencies that do the work of the people, and the Legislature. The final product is something that will serve Missourians and keep our state moving forward.

The fiscal year 2025 budget provides necessary funding to keep the state government operational and makes investments in infrastructure and capital improvements. We were able to accomplish this during a time of high inflation without increasing the burden on taxpayers and going into debt. The upcoming year’s budget is actually less than the year before.

While it is impossible to responsibly take on every project and request from across the state, the various entities that worked on this year’s budget identified the most needed, achievable and economic options that we could reasonably afford. I fully believe we have a firm foundation that will allow us to do more moving forward.“
