Senator Barbara Anne Washington Invites Community to Annual Public Health and Safety Fair on July 13

KANSAS CITY — Senator Barbara Anne Washington, D-Kansas City, is encouraging the Kansas City area community to attend the annual Public Health and Safety Fair on Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 10 a.m. –  2 p.m. The free event will take place at the Kansas City Urban Youth Academy, located at 1622 E. 17th Terrace.

Participants will have access to health screenings, immunizations, smoke detectors, giveaways and other important health and safety related resources. Qualifying attendees may also receive free car and booster seats for babies and children.

“The annual fair is a fun, educational opportunity for residents of Kansas City to learn about disease prevention, early detection and other invaluable health and safety services and resources,” said Sen. Washington. “I’m grateful for the valued partners, sponsors and vendors who continue to support our efforts to increase access to services and reduce inequities in health care.”

The Public Health and Safety Fair is made possible by the generous contributions of Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center, University Health, Kansas City Police Department and the Black Health Care Coalition, Incorporated. Senator Washington also applauds the following organizations for their contributions to the event: premier partners, Office of Minority Health and Home State Health; valued partners, Health Forward Foundation and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Kansas City; and distinguished partner, Spire Energy.
