Celebrating Labor Day

As we approach Labor Day, I want to take a moment to recognize and honor the vital contributions of all hardworking Missourians. This holiday is not only the unofficial end of summer, and one of the last times to gather with family and friends for a backyard barbecue, but a moment to reflect on the enduring spirit of the American workforce. Americans are an industrious and skilled labor force that forged the modern world economy through grit and determination.

It wasn’t just soldiers and sailors that won World War II, but also factories and workers who made America the “Arsenal of Democracy.” In addition, while American astronauts won the space race and made us the first nation to put a man on the moon, a vast industrial plant stood behind them and engineered this incredible feat. It was the workers of this nation that put together an economic revolution with the advent of the internet, propelling the world into this new century.

This amazing economy is made possible by the labor of everyday Americans. Labor Day is a celebration of the impact and effort of anyone who wakes up and goes to work. There is something so noble about having a purpose in life and taking pride in your work every single day. I have spent my whole life working, and I thank all Missourians who have contributed to our great nation’s success through their steadfast diligence and labor.
