Senator Denny Hoskins Reaffirms Commitment to Property Owners
JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Denny Hoskins, R-Warrensburg, voted yes for House Bill 2062.
House Bill 2062 establishes various new rules relating to property, including legislation that now allows property owners to file with a court to remove squatters from their property and turns squatting into a class A misdemeanor.
“If you own property, you shouldn’t have to worry about losing it to squatters,” Sen. Hoskins said. “This legislation will give property owners the tools they need to protect their investments, which is why I voted yes.”
The General Assembly voted to pass that bill in May and the governor signed it in July. The bill has been law since Aug. 28, 2024.
