Senator Barbara Anne Washington’s Legislative Column for Oct. 30, 2024

7 - 0, Baby!

How ‘bout those Chiefs! For the second time in four years, the world champs have broken a franchise record with 13 consecutive regular and post season wins. The entire town is lit red and fans are beaming with pride and excitement. I hope we can keep this momentum and undefeated streak going against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night at Arrowhead.

All Are Invited

Put on your costume, grab a big bag for candy and head over to Lindbergh and Prospect for my Trunk or Treat on Halloween night. Please share this flyer with the families in your life and plan to bring your young goblins to an evening of fun. I hope to see your smiling, spooky faces there!

Jackson County Senior Property Tax Credit Program Now Accepting Applications

Senior citizens over 62 may apply to freeze the real property tax on their primary residence at the 2024 rate, avoiding exhorbitant property tax hikes in the future. If you need assistance with the application or process, please call my team at 573-751-3158. This freeze was the result of a bill passed by the Legislature in 2023 and revised to include more seniors in 2024.
