Sen. Tony Luetkemeyer Elected as Senate Majority Floor Leader
JEFFERSON CITY —State Sen. Tony Luetkemeyer, R-Parkville, has been elected majority floor leader by his colleagues in the Missouri Senate. The selection was made Thursday as returning and newly elected members of the Senate gathered at the State Capitol in preparation for the 2025 legislative session. “I am excited for the opportunity to help lead a united Republican caucus and serve and grateful to my Senate colleagues for their vote of confidence,” Sen. Luetkemeyer said. “I look forward to helping lead the Senate with my friend Sen. Cindy O’Laughlin, whose election as Senate president pro tem is historic and inspiring. Together we are committed to a new chapter for the Missouri Senate, focused on passing meaningful policy to help make Missouri the safest and most prosperous state to live and raise a family.”
As floor leader, Sen. Luetkemeyer will direct the schedule for floor debate, manage Senate business and the daily calendar, as well as maintain the flow of legislation within the Senate Chamber.
A fifth-generation Missourian, Sen. Luetkemeyer grew up in Farmington, Missouri and now lives in Parkville. A practicing attorney, he has chaired the Senate’s Judiciary and Civil and Criminal Jurisprudence Committee since 2018, and he has also served as the vice chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
