Counting Our Blessings The Thanksgiving holiday is a time to celebrate the blessings we have received this past year. I hope this holiday finds you celebrating with those family and friends you are closest to. Jeanette and I will be spending Thanksgiving with our children and grandchildren, enjoying the sounds of a house full of joy and laughter. This is a time of year to remember what is truly important in the face of the struggles of everyday life. At the end of the day, fellowship and time spent with those we are closest to is a blessing that cannot be replicated. Life can be a struggle at times. We all face challenges and tribulations that can try the very fabric of our being – jobs, bills, health and fear of the future during uncertain times, to name a few – but as I sit at the table this Thanksgiving and look around at the family that has gathered with me, I know I will feel a profound sense of gratitude and joy. I am thankful for my family, my faith and my nation. I am thankful for those who serve to protect us, either through military service or first responders. I am most thankful for you, my constituents, and the faith you have put in me to be your elected senator in Jefferson City. I do not know what the future will bring, but I am hopeful it brings good times and abundance. I am secure in the knowledge that during this holiday I am thankful for the family the Lord has blessed me with.
