Finishing the Race Merry Christmas y’all! I hope y’all are as excited as I am about this festive season of spending time with family and the message of God’s love for us through the birth of Jesus being everywhere. Christmas is such a special time! No matter the season of life I find myself in, I find peace in knowing that no matter what tomorrow brings, God is in control. My Christmas season in 2024 looks nothing like it did just seven years ago. Losing parents and losing siblings is hard, especially during the holidays. However, if I keep my heart and mind on the things of yesterday, I’ll miss the beautiful moments that are with me today. I’m so grateful for my children, my grandchildren, our health, a warm house, vehicles that work and food in our kitchens! The list is endless. This column also comes with some bitter sweetness as it will be my last as the state senator for the 27th District. While I remain positive about the adventures God has in store for me next, serving this community is a very special responsibility and one I am already missing. Getting to know so many of you across the district and hearing your passion for the community continues to be inspiring. That passion and devotion for our people, our communities and the state that we call home, and knowing that people in need of more assistance and less bureaucracy were depending on me, got me through a lot of long nights and the grind of politics. Thank you for being my cheer section and support. As it says in 2 Timothy: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” It has been my absolute pleasure to be your senator in Jefferson City. I love you all. I truly believe that God has great things in store for you, me, our struggling families and our community and state. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from my family to yours!
