Senate Majority Caucus Leadership Announces Priorities for 2025

JEFFERSON CITY — As the First Regular Session of the 103rd General Assembly begins, Senate President Pro Tem Cindy O’Laughlin, R-Shelbina, and Majority Floor Leader Tony Luetkemeyer, R-Parkville, announced a bold agenda aimed at addressing the key challenges facing Missouri families and communities.

“This year, our caucus is focused on delivering solutions that strengthen our state and uphold the values Missourians hold dear,” said Sen. O’Laughlin. “From prioritizing public safety to defending the sanctity of life, we are committed to making a difference for the people of Missouri.”

The Senate Majority Caucus outlined its top priorities for the 2025 legislative session, including:

• Public Safety: Prioritizing legislation to combat violent crime, strengthen law enforcement and ensure justice for victims.
• Tax Reform: Reducing the tax burden on hardworking Missourians and creating a competitive economic environment.
• Pro-Life Policies: Advancing legislation that protects the unborn and supports families.
• Initiative Petition Reform: Strengthening Missouri’s constitutional amendment process to ensure it reflects the will of its citizens.
• Education Reform: Expanding opportunities for students and ensuring parents have a voice in their children’s education.

Senator Luetkemeyer highlighted the importance of collaboration and results-oriented leadership. 

“Missourians want a government that works for them, and that’s exactly what we’re focused on,” Sen. Luetkemeyer said. “By prioritizing public safety, reforming our tax system, defending life and empowering parents with greater control over their children’s education, we’re committed to building a stronger, safer Missouri.”

Senator O’Laughlin emphasized the significance of a united caucus. 

“Our leadership is excited about the year ahead and the opportunity to work together to advance policies that reflect the values and priorities of Missourians,” Sen. O’Laughlin said. “We are determined to make meaningful progress on the issues that matter most.”

The Missouri Senate convened Wednesday to begin the 2025 legislative session.
