Protecting our Community
Greetings from your favorite Senator Angela Mosley! Committees have officially started reviewing bills this week. This is one of the first steps a bill goes through. Once in a committee, a hearing is held for the bill where those in support or opposition to the bill may come and share their testimony supporting their belief. The committee then works with the bill sponsor to revise the bill and vote on whether to pass it or not.
My Senate Bill 40 was heard in the Transportation, Infrastructure and Public Safety Committee this week. This bill would establish the “Missing and Murdered African American Women and Girls Task Force,” and address the growing abuse against black women in our state. These injustices against the pillars of our families, churches and community cannot be ignored any longer. Together we can help them, but I need your voices. Please stay involved in this process and reach out to anyone you know who would support this legislation and ask them to contact their elected officials in both the House and Senate.
If you have any questions, concerns or if you are interested in being a witness for one of my bills please contact my office. Together we can be a force of change to strengthen and bless our community!
