Senator Coleman Leading the Effort to Deliver Government Accountability, Reduce Waste and Promote Transparency

JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri Senate’s Government Efficiency Committee chair, Sen. Mary Elizabeth Coleman, R-Arnold, today officially launched the committee’s work.

Senator Coleman is championing an effort to create a Legislative Office of Fiscal Transparency (LOFT). The LOFT will have the authority to investigate state departments and agencies and help eliminate fraud, waste and abuse.

“Today’s meeting was all about cutting waste, boosting transparency and holding our state agencies accountable,” said Sen. Coleman. “We’re taking bold steps to eliminate inefficiencies and ensure Missouri taxpayers get the most out of every dollar.”

The Senate Government Efficiency Committee plans to launch a government accountability portal giving Missourians the opportunity to report fraud, waste and abuse, as well as submit ideas for improving government efficiency.
