The Work Moves Ahead
Hello from your favorite Senator Angela Mosley! I am so happy to report that Senate Bill 40 was voted out of committee this week, which means it is now headed to the Senate Floor. This bill would create a task force focused on missing and murdered black woman in our state and finding solutions to help protect them. I am optimistic this bill will continue to move quickly through the Legislature.
Also, the governor addressed the General Assembly in his State of the State address this week. I look forward to working with him to solve the childcare crisis.
Next week, I am looking forward to the hearing for Senate Bill 42 with the Education Committee. This bill requires schools to conduct annual safety assessments to find what vulnerabilities to a potential shooter crisis exist then develop solutions to protect children. If you are interested in being a witness for this bill please contact my offices. The hearing will be Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 8 a.m. in the Senate Lounge on the third floor. I recommend showing up early in order to find parking.
There are also a number of events around the state in the world of humanities I wanted to share with you. The humanities are important as they are a window into our culture and what makes us human.
