Senate Education Committee Vote on Senate Bill 42
JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Angela Mosley’s, D-Florissant, Senate Bill 42 will be voted on in the Senate Education Committee on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025 at 8 a.m. in the Senate Lounge on the third floor of the State Capitol.
Senate Bill 42 requires schools in St. Louis and St. Louis County to perform safety assessments to evaluate potential risk regarding various crises, including school shootings and intruders. The legislation also requires the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to work with the schools to reduce any risks found in the assessment.
“Children are the most precious part of our community,” Sen. Mosley said. “We must do everything in our power to protect them and their futures.”
Sen. Mosley also said she is grateful for the support of those who lent their voices during the bill’s public hearing earlier this month and appreciates everyone keeping this vote in their thoughts Tuesday morning.
If approved by the committee it will move to the Senate Floor for discussion.
