Strengthening Missouri’s Infrastructure

This week, I’d like to talk about the utility omnibus bill, Senate Bill 4. While this bill has many facets to it, the primary goal is to help improve Missouri’s energy infrastructure. It does this by allowing the companies to look forward when determining rates and take into account various improvement projects. There is an increasingly high demand for energy in our state, and as the population grows and more industries come into the state that demand will only get higher. It’s integral that we create a path for them to improve this infrastructure before the energy burden becomes debilitating.

The bill also looks out for consumers by ensuring that during extreme cold and hot weather utility companies cannot turn off the heat or air conditioning. These statutes help to ensure that in extreme weather everyone can stay safe.

The bill also change policies related to natural gas, solar, metering, and various other measures.

I also presented my Senate Bill 466 on the floor of the Senate and am happy to say it was perfected. This bill repeals sunset clauses on a number of important tax credits that help benefit farmers and our entire agricultural industry here in Missouri. I believe these credits are needed to protect and encourage agriculture in our state which are integral to Missouri’s economy.
