Senator Angela Mosley’s SJR 14 and SB 210 to be Heard in Committee
JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Angela Mosley, D-Florissant, on Wednesday, Mar. 5, will present Senate Joint Resolution 14 to the Economic and Workforce Development Committee meeting at 10 a.m. and Senate Bill 210 to the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee at 12 p.m. in Senate Committee Room 1 of the State Capitol.
Currently, only former prisoners of war who have total service-connected disability receive an exemption from property tax. If approved by voters, SJR 14 would expand the property tax exemption to include all former prisoners of war and extend a portion of the benefits to all disabled veterans.
Meanwhile, SB 210 would adjust the pay of state employees working as care providers in veteran’s homes. It would set the minimum pay to $15 an hour and the maximum at $22. This would not affect anyone already making more than this in this position.
“Taking care of veterans is a top priority,” Sen. Mosley said. “They have sacrificed so much for the freedoms we hold and it is time we do all we can to honor their bravery.”
