The Work Marches Forward

Hello, from your favorite Senator Angela Mosley! These past two weeks have been filled with committee hearings, floor debates, a joint session with the House and opportunities to meet with you, my constituents!

I’m excited to share the Senate passed my Senate Bill 40 last week. This bill establishes the Missing and Murdered African American Women and Girls Task Force and has been a priority of mine for years. The bill is now making its way through the Missouri House of Representatives.

In addition, the Education Committee heard my Senate Bill 306 last week. This bill establishes how administrative boards for unaccredited schools are formed and implements requirements for unaccredited schools to become accredited within certain timelines.

I also was happy to attend the State of the Judiciary in a joint session with the House of Representatives last week. It focused on the efforts put in by all of the people who help keep the courts running and resolving cases and disputes.

I also had the chance to meet with and recognize Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Journey Against Domestic and Sexual Abuse (JADASA) and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Finally my father, former Representative Mosley, visited the Capitol and I took the opportunity to honor him during the legislative session which capped off last week beautifully.

This week I presented Senate Joint Resolution 14 to the Economic and Workforce Development Committee this week. If approved by voters, this bill would expand the tax credit meant for disabled former prisoners of wars to also include all former prisoners of war and to other disabled veterans. I believe it is time we honor their bravery and help to lift up those who sacrificed for our freedoms.

Unfortunately, the committee hearing for Senate Bill 210 was canceled and will need to be rescheduled. This bill would adjust the pay for care providers in veterans’ homes, both increasing the minimum pay to $15 an hour and placing a cap of $22 an hour for those who don’t already make more. I hope to present this bill in the near future.

I also was happy to speak with constituents who came to visit and discuss the importance of my School Meals Bill, Senate Bill 131, which would help provide free school lunches to students on reduced price lunch.

If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to my office.

The Senator and her husband were happy to meet with Carol, a senior in her community and discuss all the good JADASA has done for her.

On the floor, Sen. Mosley welcomed Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. on the day of the State of Judiciary.

Senator Mosley met a current member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, and Lincoln University School of Nursing stunt, Ayreona Carter who came to visit for Women’s History Month.

Senator Mosley was happy to accept an award from the NAAIA-STL during their Scholarship & Awards Celebration.
