Staying on Track

Hello! I’m happy to speak with you again this week and update you on my legislation.

The first item I want to talk about is my fireworks bill, Senate Bill 81, which is currently in the House and going through committee hearings there. This bill helps update the state’s regulations surrounding fireworks, including permits to sell and fire off fireworks. It allows the state fire marshal to more effectively monitor firework venues and ensure everyone is safe. I believe it is important to update to modern standards and prepare for all the upcoming celebrations like the World Cup next year.

I also presented my Senate Bill 462 to the Economic and Workforce Development Committee. This legislation gives a tax break for railroad construction and improvements. I hope this will help to modernize are short line railroads. This is key to getting goods to the interstates and helps carry a large transportation burden that otherwise would be fulfilled by over a million semis. I believe this will help to combat the inflation the railroads are suffering and encourage continual improvements to Missouri’s infrastructure.
