It was nice to see so many of my constituents in attendance, highlight my legislative priorities and discuss issues important to the 22nd District. Lawmakers returned from recess and passed a number of consent bills as well as several other important pieces of legislation. Senate Bill 4, which modernizes outdated utility regulations, prevents power outages and strengthens Missouri’s energy infrastructure, was sent to the governor’s desk. The governor took action and signed into law House Bill 495, which ensures law enforcement agencies across the state have the support and resources needed to make communities safer. Public safety has been a top priority for the General Assembly this session. Bills third read and passed this week in the Senate that now head to the Missouri House of Representatives include: - Senate Bill 61 – Streamlines professional licensing by recognizing out-of-state licenses and simplifying the process for qualified professionals to work in Missouri.
- Senate Bill 152 – Bans foreign entities from spending money on state ballot measure campaigns to protect Missouri elections from outside influence.
- Senate Bill 189 – Adds county and municipal park ranger vehicles to the legal definition of “emergency vehicle,” allowing them to use lights and sirens in official capacities.
- Senate Bill 348 – Establishes new state symbols and designations to celebrate and preserve Missouri’s cultural and historical identity.
- Senate Bill 396 – Allows consolidated public library districts to adjust their fiscal year start and end dates to better align with budgeting needs.
