Senator Sandy Crawford's Capitol Report for the Week of Sept. 8, 2025

Friday, September 12, 2025

    Sept. 12, 2025

This week, we returned to the Capitol for the annual veto session. Since no legislation was vetoed this year, and the governor only vetoed some line items in this year’s budget, the veto session was quick. Then came an extra session, called by the governor, to address congressional redistricting and initiative petition reform.

We also held the first hearing of the Missouri Senate Select Committee on Property Taxes and the State Tax Commission. I have the honor of chairing this panel. We heard from various entities during this informational gathering. We have a large task at hand, looking for ways to reduce the tax burden on Missourians while still being fiscally responsible. I look forward to getting more facts before the Legislature would begin to address the concerns taxpayers have throughout our state.
