Legislative Column for the Week of Jan. 26, 2026

Committee work remained busy this week. The Senate Appropriations Committee held two hearings this week, during which members reviewed and discussed a range of budget items, including funding related to the Judiciary.

Gubernatorial appointment hearings continued this week. I introduced James Bagley of Maryville in committee with his nomination to serve on the Health Facilities Review Board. Also, two of my bills were heard in committee. One piece of legislation focuses on challenges facing struggling ambulance districts, particularly in rural areas. I have heard concerns from communities across the 12th Senatorial District about the financial strain on emergency medical services, and this legislation would allow local ambulance districts the option to consolidate to remain financially viable and continue serving their rural communities.

The office also welcomed several constituent groups throughout the week, including representatives from the East Buchanan School District, the Missouri Corn Growers Association and the Missouri Soybean Association. I value these conversations and the opportunity to hear directly from those I represent.
