Senator Justin Brown Encourages Veterans to Use Free Legal Resource
JEFFERSON CITY – State Sen. Justin Brown, R-Rolla, is encouraging veterans in Phelps County and the surrounding area to utilize a free resource being provided by a group from the University of Missouri.
Tigers for Troops is an event being organized by the Mizzou Law Veterans Clinic as part of a rural outreach initiative. On Thursday, Feb. 12, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rolla, they will provide free legal consultation for veterans regarding Veterans Affairs (VA) disability compensation claims, military discharge upgrades and VA healthcare eligibility.
“Navigating the resources available for veterans can be complex, but they deserve every opportunity to receive the care they need after sacrificing for the rest of us,” Sen. Brown said. “For any veteran who is struggling to navigate this process or who is struggling to understand the resources available to you, I strongly encourage you to attend this event.”
Advanced registration is required to guarantee appointment availability. Those interested can visit veteransclinic.missouri.edu or call 573-882-3989 to schedule an appointment. The event will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 801 W. 11th St. in Rolla.
The Mizzou Law Veterans Clinic has assisted more than 2,100 Missouri veterans and secured more than $21 million in VA disability benefits since its founding in 2014. The clinic is based at the University of Missouri School of Law, allowing law students to assist veterans with claims and appeals before the Department of Veterans Affairs under the supervision of experienced attorneys.
