Senator Sandy Crawford's Capitol Report for the Week of Feb. 9, 2026

    Feb. 12, 2026

Things are getting busy in the Missouri Senate. This week, I saw one of my bills move to the Missouri House of Representatives for its consideration. Senate Bill 1020 authorizes the Missouri Department of Revenue to enter into a contract without rebidding when NO qualifying bids are received during the initial request for proposal. This should streamline the process, reduce administrative waste and accelerate the reopening of license offices. Without SB 1020, the state could continue wasting resources on rebidding and rural residents risk losing their local license offices permanently.

I have the privilege of chairing the Missouri Senate Select Committee on Property Taxes and the State Tax Commission, which heard my Senate Bill 1410. This bill seeks to modify provisions relating to property taxes, which will allow township counties to collect taxes in payments and allow a taxpayer to name a trusted contact.

In addition, both Senate Bill 834 and Senate Bill 835 have been voted “do pass” by the Missouri Senate Insurance and Banking Committee, which means both are now eligible for consideration by the entire Missouri Senate. Senate Bill 834 would establish the Uniform Mortgage Modification Act. Senate Bill 835 would modify provisions relating to attachment, execution and garnishment in civil proceedings and increase bankruptcy exemptions.

This same committee also heard my Senate Bill 932, which would modify provisions relating to workers' compensation. I look forward to all of these proposals making their way through the Legislature between now and mid-May.
