Senator Coleman’s Government Efficiency Measure Passes Missouri Senate
JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri Senate passed legislation sponsored by State Sen. Mary Elizabeth Coleman, R-Arnold, aimed at improving government accountability and eliminating waste in state government.
“Missouri taxpayers deserve a government that is efficient and affordable,” Sen. Coleman said. “By removing boards and commissions that no longer function and increasing oversight of administrative entities, we are ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly and transparently.”
Senator Coleman’s Senate Bill 890 repeals or consolidates more than a dozen defunct boards and commissions. The legislation requires state departments overseeing administrative entities to submit an annual report to the Missouri legislature identifying any entity that has not met or conducted public business in the prior three years. Senate Bill 890 works to streamline state government operations by eliminating entities that are no longer active and strengthening reporting requirements to help prevent future inefficiencies.
