Senator Ben Brown Sponsors Legislation to Save Women’s Sports

JEFFERSON CITY – State Sen. Ben Brown, R-Washington, announces he has filed legislation to establish the “Save Women’s Sports Act” and prohibit biological males from participating in women’s sports. Senate Bill 87 requires the organizers and sponsors of sporting events for students in kindergarten through 12th grade to designate all competitions as male, female or open to all genders.

“I have two daughters who play sports, and I cannot imagine how unfair it would be to them to have to compete with biological males,” said Sen. Brown. “This legislation will level the competitive playing field for all student athletes.”

The proposal includes a provision permitting those who are disadvantaged by male participation in female sports to recover damages or equitable relief, and it disqualifies school districts that violate the terms of the legislation from receiving appropriations from the General Assembly.
