Senator Sandy Crawford's Capitol Report for the Week of Jan. 16
Thursday, January 19, 2023
This week, we attended the governor’s State of the State address. We were provided a clearer understanding of the governor’s vision for his annual budget.
In his address, the governor talked about having signed legislation that has cut state taxes three times. It is a pleasure to have been involved with getting these bills across the finish line during my time in the Legislature. Workforce development and infrastructure are other areas that have seen significant support and improvement over the past few years. It is also good to hear about additional funding to add high-speed broadband internet throughout our state, especially in rural parts of Missouri. I look forward to working with my colleagues to help turn the governor’s vision into reality.
I am also pleased to announce I have been chosen to serve as vice-chair of the Agriculture and Rural Development Committee for the Council of State Governments’ southern office. CSG South is a nonprofit, nonpartisan member organization that serves the southern legislatures of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. I appreciate their trust in me to serve in this capacity.
I am honored to serve as your senator in the Missouri Senate. If, at any time, you have questions, concerns or ideas regarding state government, please feel free to contact me at (573) 751-8793 or Sandy.Crawford@senate.mo.gov.
