State Legislators Seek to Pass Constitutional Sheriff SJR

Jefferson City — State Sen. Jill Carter will be hosting a press conference alongside Sen. Bill Eigel and House handler Rep. Bennie Cook to discuss Senate Joint Resolution 42.

If approved by the voters, SJR 42 would enshrine the office of sheriff in the Missouri Constitution. The goal of this legislation would be to provide local sheriffs with the legal backing to defy COVID-era lockdowns, protect concealed carry information and oversee federal investigations.
