Sen. Razer’s Senate Bill 964 Honoring Various Missourians Passes the Missouri Senate

JEFFERSON CITY — On April 11, the Senate passed Sen. Greg Razer’s, D-Kansas City, Senate Bill 964, related to state designations. This bill was filed to designate “Chris Sifford Day” on Aug. 6 each year, honoring the life of service of Chris Sifford. On Oct. 16, 2000, while serving as chief of staff to Governor Mel Carnahan, Sifford tragically lost his life in a plane crash that also took the lives of the governor and his son, Randy Carnahan.

“I hope on Aug. 6 each year, Missourians might give pause to remember Mr. Sifford,” said Sen. Razer. “This is also a day to acknowledge and share gratitude for all the dedicated staff members whose service makes it possible for legislators to tend to the business of the state. Without them, our work would never be possible.”

Along with "Chris Sifford Day," the bill also creates state designations for the “Dr. Dan Brown Memorial Highway,” “Celia Day,” “John Donaldson Day,” and others.
